I first started my career as a Nursery Nurse at Milton Keynes Preparatory School before heading off to university in Brighton to study a BA Hons Degree in Social Policy & Administration. I was always torn between working as a teacher or a social worker so when I discovered the Education Welfare Service I felt I had found the right match. I worked as an Education Welfare Officer for a local authority for 15 years supporting families where there was low school attendance. In 2013 I moved into the Early Help Service and became a Senior Child & Family Worker supporting families with complex needs and delivering the Incredible Years Parenting Groups. I acted up as the Assistant Team Manager of this team for a significant amount of time before making the decision to concentrate on Incredible Parenting.
Along side my work at Incredible Parenting I also hold the position as Family Group Conference Coordinator for a Local Authority.
In 2013 I achieved an Advanced Certificate in Systemic Practice with Families and Couples, and in 2015 I studied at The Institute of Family Therapy and gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Intermediate Child Focused Systemic Practice.
In 2018 I gained my accreditation to be a certified group leader for The Incredible Years: Parent Training Series. This was awarded by DR Carolyn Webster Stratton founder of The Incredible Years Parenting Series.
In 2020 I completed a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling & CBT.
In 2021 I successfully completed the STOP Level 1 Parent Training Programme and the PIT STOP parent training programme.
In 2022 I successfully completed the Richard Rose Therapeutic Life Story Work Professional Diploma.
After 20 years of working in this field I haven't lost my passion for supporting children and families, I continue to learn with every family I work with. My style is always strength based, focusing on what is working well and how we can build on that.
I am also a working Mum of 2 so completely understand the pressures of family life.
